Former UFC champion Frank Shamrock is being denied a place in the UFC Hall of Fame despite of past accomplishments in the organisation and carrying the struggling organisation during what is referred to as the dark ages. This all stems from a personal feud between Shamrock and the president of the UFC  Dana White who took over the organisation  back in 2001 when Zuffa bought the company.

Undoubtedly This affects the legitimacy of the Hall of Fame, Shamrock being backed by a legion of fans created  a petition protesting that this stance is unacceptable claiming fighters like Frank Shamrock should be honoured for their contribution towards the sport. Although Shamrock himself wasn’t too bothered about the situation;

“I think its great that people are supporting me but truth be told I don’t care if I’m inducted or not.  I know what I have accomplished in the sport and so do all of the fans.”

“That’s what Dana’s like, he’s like a kid who takes his ball home when things don’t go his way. He [Dana] gets  a lot of credit for building up the sport but all he did really was just water it down from being a legit sport”

Sources close to Xtreme Couture who wish to remain anonymous indicate that Mark Coleman has sustained an ankle injury during wrestling practice. Mark ‘The Hammer’ Coleman is scheduled to face off against TUF finalist Stephan Bonnar at UFC 100 but there are growing concerns within his camp whether Coleman will be able to make weight with the injury and how much of an impact it will have on his performance on Saturday night. However when Coleman himself was asked about the injury  he denied it and claimed it was nothing more than a minor injury.

The UFC announced Monday that they will be inducting two new members into their hall of fame going from only five members to seven members in one day. Joining Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Mark Coleman, Dan Severn, and Randy Couture will be Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and the late TapouT founder Charles “Mask” Lewis. Both members will be inducted at the Fan Expo on July 10th.

UFC 100 is set to go down on July 11th in the Mandalay Bay Event centre in what is promised to be an historic event, however many fans were disappointed to find that the Mark Coleman vs Stephan Bonnar bout was left off of the PPV’s main card. This angered many fans who have been constantly sending in e-mails in support of the bout being broadcast on the PPV.

Newly hired spokesman Larry Centers commented on the situation and is promising to have the fight moved onto the main card. It’s not clear at this point which fight it will be replacing but fans are assured the fight will be broadcasted . “Due to unprecedented demand we’ve made the decision to move this fight up to the main card, as a company we are first and foremost looking out for the interest of our fans and if this is what they want then we owe it to them to make it happen.

Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping is feeling very confident going into his fight against former PRIDE champion Dan Henderson scheduled for the historic UFC 100 card on July 11th. Bisping insists that his training for the bout has been going well and that Henderson poses little threat to him “Besides his wrestling I don’t see him causing me much problems, if he manages to get me down I will get straight back up to my feet and continue to out strike him.

UFC 100 is predicted to generate the highest PPV buys in UFC history – many of which Bisping says he will account for “No disrespect to anyone else on the card but everyone will be tuning in on July 11th to watch me beat the shit out of Dan Henderson. I have a worldwide fan base that’s still growing where as [ Dan] is only known in the States” Bisping was also irked about Henderson’s recent comments regarding Bisping receiving ‘gift’ decisions in his past fights “I’ve only went to a split decision twice in my career so for him to say that I get gift decisions is laughable really, only thing missing in his last fight when he beat Rich [Franklin] was a bow tie” there’s a reason he’s known as ‘Decision Dan’.

Bisping then went onto express interest in returning to the UFC’s Light heavy weight divison and challenging Lyoto Machida who currently holds the belt “You know I’m in the sport for challenges and in my mind Machida is the best pound for pound fighter in the UFC, it used to be Anderson but his last two performances were shameful to say the least”

MFC signs deal with HDNet fights.

“It means a lot to our organization to be on TV and to be involved with quality individuals like Mark Cuban, Guy Mezger, and Andrew Simon,” said MFC president Mark Pavelich. “HDNet has helped the MFC immensely.”
With that in mind, HDNet and the Maximum Fighting Championship have consummated a new deal that will see Canada’s biggest promotion continue to broadcast live events exclusively on Mark Cuban’s HDNet.

“HDNet will continue to showcase the premiere MMA promotion in Canada to millions of fans in North America,” said HDNet Fights’ CEO Andrew Simon, and considering the names that are now competing in the MFC that is little surprise.

With UFC veterans such as middleweights Jason MacDonald and Trevor Prangley, OPaul Daley, Nick Thompson, former UFC title contender John Alessio, David Heath, and up-and-coming stars such as Bobby Lashley the MFC roster is currently the highest profile in the country.

The next MFC event will take place at the River Cree Resort and Casino in Enoch, Alberta, October 2, 2009.

In a strategic move that ensures the The Maximum Fighting Championship 22 “Payoff” will be shown live on HDNet Fights, the event has moved it’s date from September 22 to October 2.

The event, which will feature the return of 10-time UFC veteran Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald, will be a homecoming of sorts for the first Albertan in MMA history to make his way into the ranks of the world’s biggest promotion.

Coming off consecutive losses to Wilson Gouveia and Nate Quarry respectively, the man known to many of his hometown fans as “J-Mac” will likely not get any easy opponents upon his return to the promotion where he started his career.

In fact, the competition in the MFC is quite different, with recent additions such as Trevor Prangley, John Alessio, Paul Daley, and Nick Thompson, the level of talent has increased dramatically since his choke over Neil Berry at MFC 10 – which was ironically titled “Unfinished Business.”

MacDonald will return to the MFC ring to take care of  said “Unfinished Business” against an as yet unknown opponent at the River Cree Resort and Casino, to get back onto the winning track and repave his way back into the Octagon.

Multiple reports indicate that current UFC champion Brock Lesnar was involved in a scuffle with former Light Heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz in a Casino resort located in Las Vegas. People who witnessed the incident say that it started off as a verbal confrontation, but quickly escalated into a shoving match.  Tito reportedly took the UFC  Heavyweight Champion down, but security was able to get there before any damage was done. Security guards rushed in and broke up the disturbance and escorted both men outside where they were asked to leave peacefully.

With just little over a week left until TUF finalist Stephan Bonnar and Mark ‘The Hammer’ Coleman are set to clash on the under card of UFC 100 on July 11th, In a rare display of honestly Bonnar admits that he is a little nervous going into the bout “From what some of  [the] guys at  the gym [Xtreme Couture] tell me – Coleman is a freak now when it comes to cardio.” said Bonnar “I’ve been told he has completely changed his game up,  so I’m expexcting the best version of Mark Coleman we’ve seen yet to enter the Octagon on July 11th.”

Win or lose Bonnar says this time he will leave everything he has to offer in the cage “I still feel that I have a punchers chance though but I would be lying if I said I am as confident as when I first signed for this fight.  After watching him train everyday I know this isn’t the same guy I signed up to fight a few months ago.

Bonnar also is irked and feels that Coleman is overlooking him for  shot at the title “I heard what he has been saying in interviews – about him feeling he’s ready for a title shot and that I’m just a stepping stone.  That shows me that his confidence is at an all time high, and a confident Mark Coleman is everyone’s worst nightmare – so I will have to bring my ‘A’ game if I have any hope to win”

The debut of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 is not for another three months — September 16, 2009 to be exact — but the roster of fighters is starting to fill out. The list includes a former IFL champion, several NFL players, a few UFC veterans and one YouTube phenomenon for good measure.

Commissioned to coach this eclectic band of misfits will be two former light heavyweight champions in Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and “Sugar” Rashad Evans. The pair will have their hands full as this season will comprise heavyweight contenders exclusively.

In fact, TUF 10 will be the first TUF season to feature heavyweights since the second season in late 2005. That season — which culminated in a heavyweight showdown between Rashad Evans and 6’7” Brad Imes — was noted more for its light heavyweights fighting up in weight than it was for its true heavyweight contenders, including Evans, Keith Jardine, Mike Whitehead and Seth Petruzelli.

The date for “The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale” has already been slated for December 5, 2009, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following the finale, coaches Jackson and Evans are expected to duke it out for the number one contender position in the light heavyweight division.
